We didn't let the rain stop us totally, however, and during the breaks in downpours we were able to get Sadie out to one of the several coves to play her new favorite game, Frisbee catch!
During our walks we are finding some interesting things. The pine cones here can get rather large. This one is sitting on a picnic table with 6" wide slats (it's a keeper! and speaking of keepers...)
Finally, today, the clouds parted and we were able to get out for a brief fishing excursion on the point and Isabel caught the first fish of the trip! This large mouth bass measures somewhere around 12"--we're not exactly sure since the measuring tape disappeared from the tackle box. Notice that Isabel isn't quite to the point of holding her own fish for pictures, but she pulled it in by herself none-the-less! Bass in this lake need to be over 12" to keep so we threw it back (which Isabel wanted to do anyway, no matter the size. She is a catch and releaser since she thinks bass and trout taste "gross". Had it been a salmon, it would have been a different story.).
